The aim of the newsletter is to fill in some of the knowledge gaps that exist in the policy space, adding real-world perspective to -and simple awareness of - the on-the-ground shape of this increasingly important, globally-relevant region. To illustrate: It's easy, and common, to read statements saying that country x should change their trade with country y. What is consistently absent from this is the on-the-ground fact that existing trade is built on jobs, citizens, infrastructure-in-place, future finance, economic goals, state deficits, and beyond. The 5x5 aims to add some of these details to the mix.
